Dad 'n Me
Newgrounds' playground brawler.

About Dad 'n Me
Dad 'n Me is a 2005 beat 'em up by Tom Fulp and Dan Paladin, released on Newgrounds. You play a small, angry boy loose in a neighbourhood full of other kids, and you settle every argument with your fists. Walk through the scrolling stages, punch, kick, grab and throw the children in your way, and keep going until you reach the end of each area.
It is a classic side-scrolling brawler in the style of arcade games like Final Fight, condensed into a short, punchy Flash game. Dan Paladin's thick-lined art and the game's mischievous sense of humour made it one of the defining Newgrounds games of its time, and it pointed directly at what the same people would make next.

Stuck? Hints, gentlest first
Hint 1 – throw things
Picking up and throwing enemies and objects is often stronger than punching. Throw one attacker into a group to knock them all down.
Hint 2 – keep moving
Don't let enemies surround you. Fight with your back away from the crowd and move up and down the screen to line them up.
Hint 3 – click first
The game uses the keyboard; click inside it before you start, or it won't see your key presses.
Dad 'n Me was made by Tom Fulp and Dan Paladin and released on Newgrounds in 2005. Its scrappy art and dark-ish humour came from the same team that would later make Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers – and you can see the start of that style here.
